WATCHDOG D.O.G.S

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads/father figures of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering. The 2 primary goals are:

  1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
  2. To provide an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

We have a wonderful WATCH D.O.G.S. program at Bedford Hills, organized by our counselor, Mrs. Kipp, and our Top Dog, parent Mr. Pollard. If you would like to get involved, please completed your volunteer background check through the LCS website:

BHS GARDEN PROGRAM – LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

Our Fall Garden program is in full swing. We are looking for volunteers on Thursdays during K to 3 recess periods or form 10:15 to 12:15 every half hour. The first recess is second grade, then kindergarten, first and third grades. During recess, we ask for student volunteers who help us harvest our fall garden. Last week we harvested corn and this week it will be flowers. Still to come will be beans, watermelon and carrots. The more volunteers we have, the more children we can allow to participate. Come for one recess or all.  No gardening experience necessary. The students love doing this and it is a really fun activity. Please note, you must have a current school year LCS volunteer background check  and check in at the front door (please do not come through the garden gate).   https://www.lcsedu.net/community/volunteer

Here is a signup genius:

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kris Lloyd ([email protected]).  Thanks for everyone's help with the garden! It is truly a community effort.

BOOKS NEEDED FOR BHS SHARE SHELF:

If you have any gently used children's books/chapter books that you would like to donate to our BHS Share Shelf, we would love to have them. We have a bookcase in our cafeteria with free books that students can take home, read, return or keep so they have books in their home to read. Please encourage your children to check out the Share Shelf and read every night!
