Students in classroom video chat with NFL players

We tell our students it’s important to read everyday. At T. C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation last Friday, the fourth- and fifth-grade students heard it again in a video chat with the Redskins. Tony Bergstrom, a center for the Washington Redskins, video chatted with students for about half an hour about his favorite books, what it takes to become an NFL player, and why reading is important, even in professional football. This opportunity was part of an initiative called “Redskins Read.” Students complete reading and writing assignments in their Redskins Read playbook to earn monthly prizes.
