Cadets from E. C. Glass High School Air Force JROTC advanced to compete in the National Championships of the JROTC Academic Bowl to be held in Washington, DC in June. The local team was one of only 16 from across the nation who advanced as far as the national level from a pool of 462 nationwide teams at the start of this season.

JROTC Academic Bowl competition is conducted in a quiz show type format with questions coming from seven categories: Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, Current Events, and military/JROTC Knowledge.

The team roster includes Cadet Airman First Class Tor Anderson, Cadet Technical Sergeant Walter Webber and the team captain, Cadet Major Jillian Nylund. Cadet Airman Caroline Phelps rounds up the team (not in photo).

The winner of the Air Force JROTC Championship will compete against winners of the Army, Marine Corps and Navy JROTC Academic Bowls in the JROTC Joint Service Academic Bowl Championship.

The College Options Foundation sponsors the annual JROTC Academic Bowl. COF is a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to enriching the academic development of JROTC students and military families assisting them in preparation for higher education. One goal of the JROTC Academic Bowl is to prepare students for graduation and college entrance exams such as SAT and ACT.

Please render a crisp salute to these sharp JROTC Cadets!
