As a follow up to the communication sent on Sunday, January 16, 2022, regarding the new executive orders, the LCS team would like to provide you with an update.

Executive Order Number Two goes into effect on Monday, January 24, 2022, not this week. For this week, we will continue to follow the recently revised LCS health mitigation protocols which require that all staff and students continue to wear their masks while on school property. Further, given the recent CDC recommendations regarding the effectiveness of cloth masks, we will continue to make surgical masks available for students. KN95 masks will be available for staff as needed.

Over the next few days, we will closely monitor any further clarification to the executive order, review other laws in place that may conflict with the order, and await issuance of new guidance from the Superintendent for Public Instruction regarding COVID-19 Prevention Protocols for Schools that is consistent with the Governor’s executive order.

We understand that there are many questions, concerns, and different viewpoints related to the use of masks in schools and we appreciate your patience this week as we seek to evaluate plans that provide a safe learning environment for our students and the caring adults who teach and support them each day.

Also, when we are able to return to school after the inclement weather, E. C. Glass High School will resume in-person instruction and extracurricular activities.
