SkillsUSA is a student organization that provides learners with opportunities to sharpen career competencies, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and make professional connections. Through SkillsUSA, LCS students expand on industry-specific knowledge gained in their Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. SkillsUSA competitions challenge students to complete hands-on skill demonstrations, from identifying pieces of evidence in a staged crime scene to designing architectural floor plans.
This year, LCS students represented Lynchburg at the state level by competing in the Architectural Drafting, Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Justice, Cyber Security, Drone, First-Aid and CPR, Cosmetology, Nail Care, Fantasy Manikin, Barbering, Natural Hair Braiding, Job Demonstration, and Technical Drafting categories.
