Dear LCS families,

Our priority throughout this COVID-19 pandemic has been to provide excellent educational services while maintaining high standards for the health and safety of our students, staff, and community. Our LCS community has gone above and beyond to maintain these high standards. Thank you for being role models for our community throughout this trying time.

The decision to return to Phase 2 remote-only learning is not an easy decision to make. We understand that this may be a hardship for many families, and we know how much our students value their time in the classroom. However, we have to make these hard choices so that we can keep our staff, students, and community safe.

Based on careful review of our metrics and the impact of staff and student absenteeism, the LCS school board voted to shift to 100% remote learning for all students effective Tuesday, December 15, 2020 through Friday, December 18, 2020.

Our staff is dedicated to your child’s success. Please continue to partner with us by ensuring your children check in daily with their teachers and coaches. We will continue to maintain open lines of communication with you.

Remote-only instruction means all students in grades PreK-2 will log into their SeeSaw account (with assistance from parent, guardian, or caregiver) and students in grades 3-12 will log into their Google Classroom account using their LCS-provided Chromebook.

School Nutrition will continue to provide meals via curbside pickup from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday at our three middle schools and two high schools. We are continuing to work with our community partners to provide additional food resources.

Families may continue to access the internet using the external access points at all LCS school buildings at no cost to families.

The LCS Information Technology team has acquired a limited number of hotspots that we are able to share with LCS families that have limited or no access to the internet. These will be paid for through the end of the school year.

If your LCS student has limited or no access to the internet, please contact us in one of the following ways:

  • Call your child’s school and request a hotspot
  • Email [email protected]
  • Call the LCS Helpdesk at (434) 515-5090 (please leave a message with your name, your child’s name and school, and the best way to contact you)
  • Complete the LCS Student Tech Assistance Form

While we are working very hard to do everything possible to accommodate all families who need assistance, we cannot guarantee a hotspot for every request because the supply is limited. Please don’t hesitate to contact us, and we will get back to you as soon as possible!

As always, if your child’s teacher or school can assist your family in any way, please contact us by phone or email. We are here for you!
