P. L. Dunbar Middle School for Innovation

The most recent philanthropic program that has been taken on by the National Junior Honor Society at Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School for Innovation is entitled “Pasta for Pennies.” This program has been sponsored by Olive Garden and involves raising money at schools all over the country as well. The central idea is for children to work as a team with their classmates by collecting any spare change they can find and placing it in a box that will be kept in their homeroom classroom. All of the money raised will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which works tirelessly to find a cure for these and other blood cancers. All of the supplies needed to work the program are provided by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The homeroom class that raises the most money for the cause by March 27th will win a meal sponsored by Olive Garden. By providing this service, students will learn not only the benefits of teamwork, but the gift of knowing that they have changed someone’s life.
