Dear LCS community,

We have some highlights to share with you from our Tuesday, July 13, 2021 meeting of the Lynchburg City School Board.

The LCS School Board elected Dr. James Coleman as the board chair for the 2021-22 school year. Also, Dr. Sharon Carter was elected as the Vice Chair. New school board member, Randall Trost, was welcomed to his first meeting as a board member.

Several members of the community attended the meeting to express their concerns about critical race theory.

Lynchburg City Schools is committed to creating an equitable and inclusive environment to support our students and employees. Directors Ethel Reeves and Latonya Brown shared the LCS educational philosophy and the current policies that govern how we address discrimination, harassment and bullying within our school division.

See more about the discussions, actions, and information by viewing the 07-13-21 School Board meeting on the LCS YouTube channel, and view the updated documents on the 07-13-21 Agenda

The next school board work session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 20, at 5:00 p.m. in the E. C. Glass High School Auditorium and the next school board meeting scheduled for August 3rd in the Board Room of the School Administration Building.
