Dear LCS community,

We have some highlights to share with you from our Tuesday, December 7, 2021 Lynchburg City School Board Meeting.

Members of the community expressed concerns about the proposed block scheduling for both E. C. Glass and Heritage high schools and student behavior management.

Student Representatives Jaiden Scott (E. C. Glass) and Eujine Kim (Heritage) gave updates on school events, athletics, school programs, and school clubs.

Director LaTonya Brown provided the Board with an update on the student behavior management plan. Director Brown presented the Board with a multi-tiered systems of support framework alignment for student support. Some of the anticipated outcomes are included in the strategic plan.

During the LCS Community Update, Superintendent Dr. Crystal Edwards discussed blocked scheduling for the high schools. Principal Beatty (Heritage) and Principal Flaugher (E. C. Glass) will collaboratively work with their stakeholders to gather information to make a decision. Director Ethel Reeves gave an overview of the second Community Conversations that was held on November 22nd. The Community Conversations focused on the topic of academic success. Director Reeves and her department were able to receive valuable feedback from members of the community. The next Community Conversations will be held on January 24, 2022 at Jefferson Park Community Center at 6:00 p.m.
