Dear LCS community,  

We have some highlights to share with you from our School Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

The Lynchburg City Schools Education Foundation, Inc. recognized the 2021-2022 Excellence in Science Scholarship Recipient Jade Personna

As part of the community update, Superintendent Dr. Crystal Edwards provided an update on bullying and aggressive behaviors in schools. Deputy Superintendent Amy Pugh provided an update on the 2022 summer program opportunities. Summer programs will take place June 7, 2022 through July 15, 2022. 

Superintendent Dr. Edwards recommended and the School Board approved the removal of mandatory masks for all students and staff in and on school property and school buses. Effective immediately masks are now optional and are encouraged. Masks will remain available for staff and students who choose to wear them.  

Superintendent Dr. Edwards and the School Board continued the discussion for the FY 2022-23 operating budget. 

Deputy Superintendent Pugh presented the mid-year academic and student growth data.

There will be a public budget hearing on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. followed by the School Board Work Session at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the School Administration Building. There will be a Joint City-Schools Budget Meeting on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. The time for this meeting is still to be determined.
