Dear LCS community,

We have some highlights to share with you from our Tuesday, March 15, 2022, Lynchburg City School Board Work Session.

School Board members participated in a lengthy discussion about continuing the Education Task Force.

The School Board approved the requested FY2022-23 operating budget with an adjustment to include an 8% salary increase for employees. As a next step, the adjusted budget will be presented to City Council.

The 2022-23 Bass Elementary School calendar was presented by Superintendent Dr. Crystal Edwards and approved by the School Board.

As part of the Facilities Study Update I, Superintendent Dr. Edwards discussed the current status of the elementary school facilities. The final report will be shared on April 19. Dr. Edwards encouraged the School Board to have a plan after the facilities study is given, and that doing nothing is not an option. She also shared that input from students, parents/guardians, and the community will be encouraged to participate in upcoming Community Conversations.

See more about the discussions, actions, and information by viewing the 03-15-2022 School Board Work Session on the LCS YouTube channel and the updated documents on the 03-15-2022 Agenda.
