This is your Board Meeting Brief for the January 24th School Board Work Session.
Sam Coleman, Chief Academic Officer, provided an update to the Board about the current instructional practices at LCS aimed at increasing early literacy.
Dr. Derrick Brown, Director of Student Services, then provided a department update. To address student behavior, Student Services is beginning to implement the LCS Restore model.
The LCS Restore initiative—which includes Restorative academies, community schools, the restorative suspension center, and Saturday school— will continue to be implemented through the rest of the semester.
Also the Board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Crystal Edwards reminded the community about the opportunity to provide feedback on the current Memorandum of Understanding with the Lynchburg Police Department. The MOU feedback survey can be found here.
The next School Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the School Administration Building.
