Hutcherson Early Learning Center provides services for children 2-5 years of age who are eligible for special education services.  We have a team of professionals including special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapist, physical therapist and more to serve your child in their least restrictive environment.

Identification and Eligibility

A child suspected of a disability or delay can be referred for evaluation by calling (434) 515-5180 or faxing the referral request to (434) 522-2323. The school-based team will meet to review and respond to the request within 10 days.  If a disability or delay is suspected the evaluation process is initiated.  Eligibility is determined based on Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) criteria.  Transfer students from out of state will be re-evaluated to determine eligibility based on VDOE criteria.

Services

Services may include special education instruction/support, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, services for hearing impairment or vision impairment.
