Hutcherson Early Learning Program is the Early Childhood Special Education component of Lynchburg City Schools. We serve students from ages two to kindergarten that demonstrate delays in the communication, personal/social, motor, cognitive and adaptive areas. The students are identified through an evaluation completed by the program. We receive screening requests from multiple sources that include: parents, preschools and child care facilities, doctors and teachers. Requests for screenings can be made by contacting our office at (434) 515-5180. Most of our students are served in inclusive placements or in the natural environment. A small percentage of our students require more support and are served in a self-contained classroom. If you have concerns about your child’s development and would like for your child to be screened, please have the following information available when you call:
- Child’s name
- Child’s date of birth
- Child’s race and gender
- Child’s address
- Parent’s name
- Area of concern
- Is your child Medicaid eligible?
